Barcelona Crea Grant Call for Performing Arts Projects
The Victoria de los Ángeles Foundation intends to promote an annual grant programme aimed at fostering musical creation and the development of new talent in the field of vocal music and the Lied/song repertoire. This initiative is part of the Foundation’s commitment to actively contributing to artistic excellence, supporting young talent, and facilitating professional development in the fields of opera and Lied, inspired by the career of Victoria de los Ángeles.
The call aims to support musical creation processes linked to Lied and newly created vocal music, including song cycles, chamber operas, small-format stage works, or interdisciplinary projects that draw from the lyric tradition to explore new artistic languages.
The grant programme will be organised on an alternating basis depending on the edition, combining calls focused on musical creation and stage creation. This year (2026), the grant will be awarded to a performing arts project. Thus, every other year, a call will open for the stage creation of small-format shows aimed at creators (stage directors or playwrights) focused on chamber or small-format operas as well as Lied/song cycles; while the following year, a call will open for the creation of new musical pieces, whether chamber opera or Lied/song cycles. There is an option for these to relate to or establish a dialogue, directly or indirectly, with the career or life of Victoria de los Ángeles.
The grant consists of a financial award of 6,000€ and/or a residency period or tutored accompaniment by the entity, the duration and conditions of which will be determined in the specific call.
Submitted projects may include:
- Small-format operas or stage shows.
- Interdisciplinary proposals linked to vocal music.
- Stage or newly composed proposals that maintain a relationship or dialogue, direct or indirect, with Victoria de los Ángeles.
The specific calendar and execution period for the granted project must be selected during 2026. It must necessarily be executed between the date of the award resolution and, at the latest, by 31 January 2027.
