LIFE Victoria - Auditori Axa

Iréne Theorin’s debut at LIFE Victoria in 2017 with a memorable recital in the Auditorium of the University of Barcelona marked a before and after in the history and trajectory of the Festival. Now the acclaimed Swedish soprano returns to LIFE accompanied by the Victoria de los Ángeles Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Pedro Pardo, in the first foray into the symphonic Lied - a much needed and often rare genre - that we do since the Festival. Together they will offer a selection of works and songs by Grieg, Nielssen and Sibelius, on a trip to the northern winter, that of the Nordic countries, from which these three composers with a marked musical personality each emerged. Symphonic song with one of the most beloved singers of LIFE Victoria.

Obres i cançons d’ Edvard Grieg (1843-1907), Carl Nielssen (1865-1931), Jean Sibelius (1865-1957)

Dancing Vivaldi

Bach, Purcell & Vivaldi

Baroque music is without a doubt one of the best connected to today's society and to the tastes of 21st century music. Its constant rhythm, without the rubatos that would arrive 200 years later and would make music enter the world of emotions, its clear harmony and at the same time the contrapuntal complexity link perfectly with music that we can hear on any radio station. 'nowadays. It’s no coincidence that many of jazz’s great musicians have performed versions in their own style of works such as the Brandenburg Concerts or Bach’s fugues, and this rhythmic firmness has allowed us to imagine perfectly choreographed music.
