Victoria de los \u00c1ngeles L\u00f3pez Garc\u00eda<\/strong> was born in Barcelona on November 1, 1923. Her father, Bernardo L\u00f3pez, of Andalusian origin, was the caretaker of the University of Barcelona<\/strong>, where he resided with his family: his wife, Victoria Garc\u00eda, and their three children, Carmen, Victoria de los \u00c1ngeles, and Jos\u00e9. <\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

The empty classrooms of the University and the Paraninfo hall, where she could play the piano, were the daily environment of the singer’s childhood and youth. During her adolescence, Victoria de los \u00c1ngeles cultivated her artistic temperament in a self-taught manner. <\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

After the Spanish Civil War, she entered the Conservatori del Liceu, where she was heard for the first time by the singer and teacher Merc\u00e8 Plantada, and completed her musical studies with the mezzo-soprano Dolors Frau and the guitarist Graci\u00e0 Tarrag\u00f3.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

On December 20, 1940, she participated in the program Concursos vivientes<\/em> on Radio Barcelona<\/strong> and won the competition singing ‘Mi chiamano Mim\u00ec’ from La Boh\u00e8me<\/em> and ‘Un bel d\u00ec vedremo’ from Madama Butterfly<\/em>, both by Giacomo Puccini and two roles that would accompany her throughout her life. The prize was precisely to perform La Boh\u00e8me<\/em> at the Teatre Vict\u00f2ria<\/strong> in Barcelona. <\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Thus began the concert career of Victoria de los \u00c1ngeles, and it was during this period that she also came into contact with the instrumental ensemble Ars Musicae<\/strong>, directed by Josep Maria Lama\u00f1a, which shaped her musical vision by pioneering a focus on early music, specifically the repertoire from the 12th to the 17th centuries. Curiously, Victoria de los \u00c1ngeles did not participate in this musical group as a vocal soloist, but as a flautist. <\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Finally, on May 19, 1944, she made her solo debut at the Palau de la M\u00fasica Catalana<\/strong> in a two-part concert: the first accompanied by the Quartet Ib\u00e8ric<\/strong> and the second by Pere Vallribera<\/strong>. Shortly after, on January 13, 1945, she made her official debut at the Gran Teatre del Liceu<\/strong> as the Countess Almaviva in Le nozze di Figaro<\/em>. <\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

After the period of motherhood with her two sons, Juan Enrique and Alejandro, Victoria de los \u00c1ngeles gradually focused her career on vocal recitals, a format that had accompanied her throughout her life since she sang Schubert in Catalan for President Maci\u00e0 before the Civil War (1936-1939).<\/p>

In these recitals across the globe, many of them considered anthology pieces, she was accompanied by great pianists such as Geoffrey Parsons<\/strong>, Alicia de Larrocha<\/strong>, Gonzalo Soriano<\/strong>, Miguel Zanetti<\/strong>, Manuel Garc\u00eda Morante<\/strong>, and Albert Guinovart<\/strong>.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
